The former partner of WWE star Stephanie Vaquer is reportedly facing decades behind bars after he was convicted of domestic violence and attempted femicide.

Rogelio Reyes – a renowned wrestler himself known as ‘El Cuatrero’ was found guilty of trying to kill Vaquer by strangling her.

Chilean superstar Vaquer is a wrestling trailblazer who last year became the first female South American champion in WWE history.

But back in 2023, she reportedly claimed her then-boyfriend grabbed her by the throat and threw her against a wall during a dispute.

It is then said that a painting fell and struck Vaquer, causing further injury. The WWE star then reportedly claimed Reyes fled when she rang the police.

According to Wrestling Inc, Vaquer claimed to have been told that her trachea was nearly broken and photos showed bruising on her neck.

On Wednesday, Reyes was found guilty in Mexico of domestic violence and attempted femicide, which the United Nations defines as ‘an intentional killing with a gender-related motivation.’

According to El Heraldo De Mexico, attempted femicide carries a maximum sentence of 46 years south of the border, while domestic violence is punishable by up to six years in prison.

Reyes was arrested and charged in Mexico City in 2023. It is said that he remained behind bars until March 2025, when he secured a court injunction that saw him released and allowed to return to wrestling.

According to reports in Mexico, ‘El Cuatrero’ – who is from a family of wrestlers – will be sentenced on Tuesday.
