Man City feel Premier League ignoring rules amid fixture pile-up frustration

Last week, Manchester City were frustrated to find they will have to play three games in six days in the title run-in after two rearranged games were announced either side of the FA Cup final.

City believe the Premier League’s principle for rescheduling matches has not been followed as it was announced they will host Crystal Palace on 13 May and travel to Bournemouth on 19 May.

In between, Pep Guardiola’s team, who are battling with Arsenal to become champions, visit Wembley on 16 May for the FA Cup final against Chelsea, giving them two trips to the south.

City feel their match against Palace, which was due to be played on the weekend when Guardiola’s side instead beat Arsenal in the Carabao Cup final, had not been rearranged sooner.

David Moyes praises fit-again Beto ahead of facing Man City

Everton boss David Moyes has praised the attitude of Beto after confirming the Portugal striker is available to face Manchester City after a concussion.

Beto had been involved in every one of Everton’s matches this season before missing last weekend’s loss at West Ham having sustained swelling below his eye in the Merseyside derby.

That interrupted a strong run of form from Beto, who has scored seven goals since the turn of the year, four in his last three appearances.

“Even today, he’s always asking and trying to find out where and if we thought he could do better,” Moyes said. “Other staff members work with him individually as well, because that’s what he actually wants, he wants extra work and he wants to try and get better.

“It’s great when you work with people who are always trying to improve and trying to step up. He’s started to score a few goals and we hope he can continue that.”

Pep Guardiola: I still have ‘incredible energy’ for Man City job in treble bid

Pep Guardiola still has “incredible energy” for his job at Manchester City and feels calmer despite the pressures of a treble challenge.

There has been speculation throughout the season Guardiola could leave City this summer after a decade in charge but he continues to speak warmly about the club.

“I wouldn’t be 10 years, even with good titles, if I didn’t have this incredible environment,” the City manager said.

“I still have incredible energy, still I’m so good, coming here to work on my days off.

“Of course we’re here because we won a lot – and that’s why they don’t fire you, because they continue to trust you – but apart from that, the club is really, really extraordinary.”

Manchester City are on a roll in title race – but goal difference becomes a factor

Manchester City have hit *that* run of form towards the end of the season and have won six matches in a row in all competitions. But their last three wins, against Arsenal, Burnley and Southampton, have all come by one goal. If Arsenal and Manchester City win their remaining games, the title will come down to goal difference.

With that in mind, City need to respond to Arsenal’s 3-0 win over Fulham. Arsenal’s goal difference of +41 is now four better than Manchester City’s +37, but that would come down if Pep Guardiola’s side win their two games in hand.

Everton’s push for European football hits a roadblock

Everton are winless in their last three in the Premier League to lose momentum in the race for European football. The Toffees suffered late heartbreak when they lost to rivals Liverpool at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, conceding to Virgil van Dijk’s header, and then lost late against West Ham last time out when Callum Wilson struck at the death.

The results mean Everton have dropped to 11th in the table, but they are still only five points off a European place. A win tonight would see them go level on points with Brighton and above Chelsea into 9th.

Is Everton vs Man City on TV? Channel, kick-off time and how to watch Premier League clash

The pressure is on Manchester City to remain in touch with Arsenal in the Premier League title race as they face a potentially tricky trip to Everton.

Mikel Areta’s side took care of business against Fulham to open their advantage to six points at the top of the table and boosted their goal difference, with their title rivals now looking to reply in kind.

It’ll be a busy end to the league campaign for Pep Guardiola and his squad with five league games still to play as well as the FA Cup final, but a slip-up here could well prove costly.

Everton still have plenty to play for, too, in a congested chase for European places. They sit 11th after the weekend’s results.

What Pep Guardiola said about Rodri’s fitness

The Ballon d’Or winner has not featured since the win against Arsenal, missing subsequent games against Burnley and Southampton in the FA Cup.

On Friday, Pep Guardiola said: “He [Rodri] is getting better. Still hasn’t trained with us, so we will see.[Ruben Dias] is not yet with the team. Him, Josko [Gvardiol] and Rodri are getting better.”

What is the Everton team news?

Everton have Beto back available with the striker recovered from the concussion that kept him out of the game against West Ham. Jarrad Branthwaite and Jack Grealish are set to miss the remainder of the season.

Possible line-up: Pickford; O’Brien, Keane, Tarkowski, Mykolenko; Gueye, Garner; McNeil, Dewsbury-Hall, Ndiaye; Beto.
