It’s that time of the year again – the transfer window is now open until September 1 and it’s sure to be a busy period with clubs looking to make big signings ahead of next season.
Here are today’s latest developments from Simon Jones and the Daily Mail Sport team…
Everton complete George deal
Everton have completed the permanent signing of England Under-21 international forward Tyrique George from Chelsea for an undisclosed fee, believed to be £18million plus £6m in bonuses.
The fee is understood to be a £6m reduction in the original fee that was attached by Chelsea to George’s purchase clause on him joining on loan in January.
The attacker has signed a four-year contract with the Toffees until the end of June 2030, having spent the second half of the 2025/26 campaign on loan with the club.
Everton have completed the £18million signing of Chelsea’s Tyrique George
George’s signing follows the addition of Hayden Hackney from Middlesbrough, and Merlin Rohi having completed the formality of a permanent move to Everton after his season long loan from SC Freiburg.
Everton still want to add a right-back and another striker and midfielder.
They are among the clubs in for Karl Darlow as Coventry want reserve goalkeeper Mark Travers while they may yet revive talks with Manchester City for Jack Grealish if a compromise can be reached.
After committing his long-term future to the Blues, George told evertonfc.com: ‘I loved my time here on loan last season, so as soon as I knew it was a possibility to return, that’s always what I wanted.’
London-born George made 11 appearances for Everton last term, after joining on loan on deadline day of the winter transfer window.
The 20-year-old began at Chelsea, joining the west London club aged eight.
Hull part ways with sporting director
Hull City have parted company with sporting director Jared Dublin.
He took up the role in October 2024, but now leaves with immediate effect.
A club statement added: ‘The club would like to thank Jared for his efforts throughout his time at Hull City, particularly for his contribution to our promotion to the Premier League, and wish him well for the future.’
Tonali thanks Newcastle fans after Spurs move
Sandro Tonali has paid an emotional tribute to Newcastle fans after completing his £100m move to Tottenham.

Tottenham confirmed the signing of Sandro Tonali on Monday morning
Tonali signed for Newcastle in 2023 but missed most of his first season in English football when hit with a 10-month gambling ban, before returning to become part of the powerful midfield trio with Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton which helped drive Eddie Howe’s team to lift the League Cup in 2025.
Tonali said: ‘Three years ago I came to Newcastle not really knowing what to expect. Today it’s time to say goodbye and it’s hard to find the right words.
‘Above all, I want to speak directly to the fans. When things were hard for me, you were there. Not for one day did I feel alone. I felt it every time I was at St James’ Park. That’s something I will carry with me for the rest of my life.’
