Chris Eubank Jr has missed weight – by just 0.05lbs.

The 35-year-old took to the scales twice, with his first attempt seeing him weigh in 0.2lbs over. He was only able to cut 0.15lbs by his second and final attempt.

He will be fined $500,000, per the weight clause in the contract, and cannot exceed 170lbs at the same-day weigh-in tomorrow morning or he’ll face a further penalty.

That explains the delay. Wow.

“Both are ranked, have been highly ranked for many years and are top level in the sport. A fight for the championship is doable,” WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman told Sky Sports when asked if the winner of Eubank vs Benn could face Alvarez.

“Canelo has embarked on a new stage of his career. He will fight in Riyadh and is then scheduled to fight in Las Vegas and the winner this Saturday is going to be a major player in boxing worldwide, certainly.”

Impressionist Al Foran has hit back at accusations he was “tone deaf” to perform an impression of Chris Eubank Sr to Chris Eubank Jr, given the father and son’s tumultuous history.

Eubank Jr spoke candidly about his strained relationship with his dad and the pain it has caused him at yesterday’s press conference.

“I literally asked for his permission to do it before we filmed this and he was more than happy for me to do the impression along with his management (who actually suggested that I do Senior in a video with him) and he’s also shared it on his Instagram stories,” Foran said. “Bore off.”

So, now it all hinges on Chris Eubank Jr.

He looked a little gaunt at yesterday’s press conference but not awful, to be honest.

Still, he’s made lots of references to the weight-cut being difficult – and even did so well in advance of the bout.

Hearn accused Eubank Jr of using that as a pre-emptive excuse, as you’d expect.

Conor Benn, unsurprisingly, makes weight.

But he’s 3.6lb under the 160lb limit, which is a tad surprising.

The light-heavyweights are within the limit.
