ESPN analyst Matt Miller, who recently underwent a life-saving amputation on his left arm after a horror car accident, has shared horrifying new details from the day.

Miller, who works as an NFL Draft analyst for the network, was airlifted to Mercy Hospital with ‘significant injuries’ following the crash in Missouri last week, which included multiple fractures and broken ribs.

Local news outlet KOAM was first to report on the crash last week, revealing that Miller was driving a 2023 Bronco on Missouri Route 96 when he crossed the center line and struck a semi tractor trailer at around 3:50pm.

The other driver, a 28-year-old man from Springfield, was not injured in the collision.

However, on Thursday, fresh details about the incident have since emerged via a GoFundMe page set up for the ESPN analyst, which Miller shared on his X account.

‘Matt suffered a compound fracture of his left femur, a shattered left kneecap, multiple broken ribs, and lost a significant amount of blood. To save his life, doctors performed an emergency amputation of his left arm,’ the GoFundMe page said.

‘Remarkably, his head, neck, and spine were spared serious injury.

‘While the road to recovery will be long and challenging, his determination and positive spirit have never wavered,’ the page states.

‘In true Matt fashion, he’s already joking that he plans to become ‘the best one-armed bartender ever.”

The page further notes that Miller is set ‘to evaluate his future prosthetic options’. At the time of writing, $21,450 has been raised in support of the ESPN analyst.

Miller himself, on Tuesday, shared a heartbreaking statement about the tragic crash.

‘I’m deeply grateful for the exceptional care I have received, from the first responders to the doctors, nurses and medical staff. I’m incredibly fortunate to be writing this,’ the 42-year-old said in a heartbreaking post on X.

‘As a result of the accident, I sustained significant injuries, including multiple fractures and broken ribs. I also underwent a life-saving amputation of my left arm.

‘While I have a long road ahead, I’m focused on my recovery and taking things one day at a time.’

After thanking people for their ‘overwhelming support’ in the wake of his accident, Miller added: ‘I look forward to continuing my recovery and getting back to ESPN to talk football, including what should be an exciting 2027 NFL Draft class.’

Miller has worked for ESPN since 2021 after previously serving as Bleacher Report’s lead NFL Draft writer for over a decade.

The reporter, who made his on-air debut for the network in 2023, has also previously appeared on their NFL Live, SportsCenter and Get Up! among other shows.
