Brexton Busch, the 11-year-old son of late NASCAR legend Kyle Busch, won his first race since his father’s death on Friday evening.
At Oklahoma’s Port City Raceway, the youngster competed in multiple divisions and claimed victory in the restricted micro sprint class, according to Motorsport.
Kyle Busch’s widow, Samantha, documented the day on her social media, sharing an Instagram post of a triumphant Brexton standing atop the podium after his win.
In one post, she wrote: ‘There was a lot of emotions to say the very least. Beyond proud of him, not just for winning but all that he’s navigating at a young age.’
She added she was ‘beyond shattered Kyle isn’t here to be a part of this,’ however was ‘beyond grateful for all the support and amazing people we have around us.’
Samantha, 40, also revealed that the 11-year-old competed in his dad’s old car, as she shared footage of him crossing the finish line on her Instagram Story.

Brexton officially returned to the track just two weeks after his father’s death at Charlotte Motor Speedway, carrying on the racing journey his family set out.
Busch, 41, passed away on May 21 after being rushed to hospital when he became unresponsive in a race simulator near Charlotte, North Carolina.
It was later revealed that the married father of two had pneumonia, which led to sepsis, causing his blood to clot and impeding his organs before he went into hemorrhagic shock.
Last month, Samantha penned an emotional message after going through the first Father’s Day without him following his sudden and tragic death.
‘This still doesn’t feel real at all,’ Samantha captioned the post.
She revealed, ”I was up all night thinking about what today should have looked like for Kyle and the kids. The Father’s Day cards that were already made, sitting in a drawer with no one to give them to. Trying to figure out how to navigate a day that should be filled with so much joy for them.’
‘He was the dad who never missed a chance to be silly, race the kids around the neighborhood, wrap them in his arms, or stay up a little longer for one more book, one more question, one more moment.’
She added that nothing made Kyle ‘prouder’ than being a father.

Samantha’s husband Kyle died suddenly of sepsis caused by pneumonia back in May
‘Kyle, the kids and I miss you every second of every day,’ she continued. ‘Our hearts ache for you, but it’s more than that. Your absence is something we physically feel.
‘Our bodies hurt from missing you, from reaching for someone who isn’t there, from loving someone we can’t hold anymore.
‘I will keep telling your stories, sharing your laughs, and making sure Brexton and Lennix always know just how deeply they were loved by their dad.’
She ended the post, wishing her husband a Happy Father’s Day – while writing that the family ‘love you and miss you more more than words can say.’
