Manchester City fans have spotted a rallying cry on show at the club in the latest social media post by star forward Erling Haaland.

City are chasing Arsenal in the Premier League title race, falling six points behind the Gunners in the standings after drawing with Chelsea at the weekend when Mikel Arteta’s side beat Bournemouth.

It comes after a tough season last year that saw them concede the Premier League title to Liverpool, but it seems Pep Guardiola’s men are not yet giving up hope of regaining the league’s top trophy.

The message, which was on display behind Haaland and UFC legend Khabib Nurmagomedov, read: ‘The pressure. The chase. The difficulties. We’ve been here before, pushed to the absolute limit and still taking everything.

‘That has always been our spirit. We don’t fold. We don’t panic. We don’t quit. We adapt. We respond. We turn setbacks into solutions. We change situations, because that’s what we do.

‘We are not weaklings, we are Manchester City Football Club.’

Thank you, man. Thank you @City_Xtra as well for the recognition.

This is honestly massive for me.

This is for the players, for the fans, for the club we all support. I hope we go for everything and shift the tide.

I’m genuinely speechless. 🩵 https://t.co/GI6blUhC2p

It has since emerged that the message came from fan account @GeronimoMorgans, who shared the snap and posted: ‘Dear @ErlingHaaland, dear Manchester City players – thank you for receiving my message.

‘Thank you. I’m incredible proud of what I’ve done. I’m genuinely in tears right now. Thank you, man. Truly.’

Not everyone saw the positive side of things, however.

Rival fans flooded to social media to mock the former champions, with one writing: ‘Failed to beat managerless Chelsea on a winless run.’

Another posted: ‘Could end up very cringe come the end of the season I’m afraid.’

A third posted: ‘I saw us fold and panic vs Chelsea as we went 6 points behind Arsenal.’

City fans, though, leapt to their side’s defence.

One posted: ‘Your words are healing,’ and another wrote: ‘Keep up the excellent work.’

City will hope that Liverpool are able to take some points off of Arsenal this week, when the Reds take on the Gunners at the Emirates. They are one of only two sides to have beaten the league leaders in the league this season.

Guardiola’s men will host Brighton, and may already have one eye on their match against Arsenal in April.
