Shropshire Council and partners across the county have launched a new Domestic Abuse Partnership Strategy (2026–2029)—with a shared commitment to reduce domestic abuse in Shropshire over the next three years.

Shropshire Domestic Abuse Strategy now launched

Domestic abuse has a profound impact on individuals, children, and families across the county and therefore is everyone’s business.

No single organisation can tackle this alone; real change needs a coordinated, partnership approach. For this reason, this strategy sets out a shared vision to reduce domestic abuse in Shropshire over the next three years.

This partnership strategy has been shaped through collaboration and insight, including the voices of people with lived experience and local data and needs assessments.

Our priorities

The partnership will focus on four key priorities:

  • Victims
  • Perpetrators
  • Community
  • Workforce

Progress will be regularly reviewed, and partners will be held accountable through a joint delivery action plan.

Leader of Shropshire Council Heather Kidd said:

“As Leader of Shropshire Council, I am proud to support the launch of our Domestic Abuse Partnership Strategy, which sets out a clear vision to reduce domestic abuse across Shropshire over the next three years.

Domestic abuse has a profound and lasting impact on individuals, families and communities across our county. Shropshire Council and our partners are fully committed to turning this strategy into action and ensuring that support is accessible, effective, and responsive to the needs of all those affected. In a rural county like Shropshire, isolation, distance and access to services can make it harder for people to seek help.

That is why strong partnership working is at the core of this strategies approach, to deliver meaningful, lasting change for everyone.

If you are experiencing domestic abuse, or are worried about someone else, please remember that support is available. You are not alone, and help is there when you need it.”

Need support?

If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic abuse you are not alone, support is available and it is okay to ask for help.
