Scottish Labour has become the latest political party to outline plans for a UK equivalent of Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency, as British politicians look to copy US president Donald Trump’s policy of tackling government ‘waste’.
While Tory leader Kemi Badenoch has said Doge is not ‘radical enough’, her Scottish counterpart Russell Findlay has proposed a Scottish Agency of Value and Efficiency, and Anas Sarwar announced on Friday he would launch his own Doge to “stop the waste” if he becomes first minister.
“I will end this culture of waste … and get value for every penny,” he said.
