Dave Portnoy is hawking a ‘Tariff Buster Parlay’ after President Trump’s economic moves cost the Barstool Sports founder millions.
The stock market crashed this week after Trump announced a sweeping reciprocal tariffs plan – affecting average citizens and tycoons like Portnoy, who said he had lost $7million.
Portnoy, though, is hoping to recoup those losses as he promoted a ‘Tariff Buster Parlay’ to his followers on Saturday, ahead of the men’s Final Four tipping off.
‘What do you do when tariffs and stock market is killing your portfolio? You gotta hit your parlays,’ he said in a video posted to X. ‘You can’t be getting killed in the market and in your bets.’
Though he admitted that he had ‘lost the entire tournament’ betting, he encouraged his followers to parlay four prop bets with combined +509 odds on DraftKings.
To win his bet, Portnoy needs Duke’s Kon Knueppel to make at least two three-pointers, Auburn’s ahaad Pettiford to make at least two threes and Florida’s Walter Clayton Jr. to make at least three triples.
Dave Portnoy told his followers: ‘If the stock market is down, the bets have to be up.’

Trump implemented a sweeping reciprocal tariff plan at the White House earlier this week
Portnoy is hoping to recoup his losses with a parlay highly reliant on Duke’s Kon Knueppel
He also needs Knueppel to score at least 15 points in the game.
‘The one thing I’ve learned in my 47 years of living – if the stock market is down, the bets have to be up. We need this parlay,’ he said.
Portnoy has been a vocal supporter of Trump multiple times in the past – supporting him in each election that the 45th and 47th presidents has run in.
But now, considering the sudden economic downturn in America, Portnoy recently shared his portfolio woes on a livestream.
‘Trump has put his tariffs all over the place. I’ve been trying to understand them. I don’t. It’s more a trade deficit tariff to me.
‘Hey, we get this much s*** from you and you get this much from us. Let’s even that up. Let’s get some wacky formula and do tariffs. And everything’s in the s***er because of it.’
‘Despite having voted for him last November, Portnoy has been critical of Trump’s administration in recent weeks .
At the end of last month after the government’s ‘war plans’ to attack Houthi rebels in Yemen were leaked to the public, Portnoy was critical of the reaction to that information getting out .
‘Listen, we’ve all texted the wrong person,’ Portnoy said in the self-shot video. ‘We’ve all emailed the wrong person… We are not the secretary of defense, we are not the national security advisor, we are not the Vice President of the United States … Yeah, mistakes happen. This one can’t.’
‘Guess what,’ Portnoy said of the discussion on the messaging app, Signal. ‘It’s super sensitive, it’s super classified, it’s surreal that these guys added Jeffrey Goldberg to this group chat. They were talking about the attack, leading up to the attack, all the way to a couple of hours when they were gonna do it, the time, the weather, you name it.’
