Craig Melvin assured “Today” show viewers he is “safe and sound” after Thursday’s terrifying security breach.

“I want to take a quick moment to address an incident that happened yesterday,” the journalist said on Friday morning. “You may have heard that unfortunately an intruder made his way into an unauthorized area here at Studio 1A.

“Thankfully he was apprehended quickly,” Melvin, 47, continued. “He was placed under arrest. We are cooperating fully with the NYPD as they investigate the matter.”

The co-anchor concluded by saying, “We are just very happy that everyone is safe.”

Laura Jarrett, who was sitting in for Savannah Guthrie, replied, “We want to make sure you are safe,” to which Melvin confirmed he is “safe and sound.”

The NBC personality initially addressed the matter via Instagram, writing, “Hey everyone. I’ve heard from so many of you over the last few hours. I’m doing just fine.”

He added, “Thanks for reaching out. I’m looking forward to seeing you tomorrow morning on @todayshow.”

The man who confronted Melvin in a stairway at the New York City headquarters — seeking weatherman Al Roker — has been identified as Andrew Truelove.

Page Six hears the 41-year-old hurled a racial slur at Melvin in the eight to 10 seconds before he was apprehended.

He was taken into custody Thursday, and a source told us a security guard was fired over the incident.

Truelove has eight unsealed previous arrests in the city, primarily for mischief, according to The Post.

He has been charged with burglary, menacing and criminal trespass as hate crimes, as well as harassment after Thursday’s fiasco.

NBC released a statement about how “extremely seriously” they “take the safety and security of [their] employees, talent, staff and guests.”

The network continued, “’Today’ is cooperating fully with law enforcement as they investigate the matter. … We are reviewing the incident and our security protocols and remain committed to providing a safe and secure environment for everyone who works at and visits our studios.”

Insiders told Page Six staffers are “on edge” — especially so soon after Savannah’s still-missing mom, Nancy Guthrie, was abducted in February.
