Coronation Street legend Beverley Callard has hit out at “ageist” critics of her participation in I’m a Celebrity… South Africa.

The soap star, 69, who has recently joined the cast of RTÉ One’s Fair City, posted a video on Instagram saying that she wanted to “moan,” describing how she has faced claims that she shouldn’t be appearing on the ITV show due to her age.

“I did more than most people in there, or as much as people in there. And I didn’t sleep as much… Some slept all afternoon,” she said.

“Society is ageist, especially about women. I’m bloody sick of it.”
