Former NHL star Sean Avery has accused his ‘crazy neighbor’ of firing shots outside his Los Angeles home before trying to ‘frame’ him with ‘two hookers.’

The 46-year-old Canadian, who enjoyed a controversial hockey career before turning to modeling and acting, claims the man shot at a car belonging to a contractor working on his house.

‘My crazy neighbor shot out the tires of the contractor building a new deck at the house. As this is going on, there’s a standoff at the house. He’s inside. He’s got guns,’ Avery said in a video posted to Instagram.

‘He calls two hookers and tries to frame me. He sends two hookers up to the house for me – I’m not even there – as a smokescreen.’

Avery, who played for the Rangers, Red Wings, Kings and Stars continued with a laugh: ‘The hookers… I don’t even know what’s going on with the election. F***ing Spencer Pratt [LA mayoral hopeful], the hockey game [the Stanley Cup final], the hookers… wow!’

According to TMZ, Avery’s neighbor was taken into custody on Tuesday. The LAPD is said to have responded to a call at Avery’s Hollywood Hills home around 10am on Tuesday. It is said criminal threats were being made.

Reports claim the caller accused Avery’s neighbor of harassing and threatening the contractors working on his home.

According to TMZ, police found no indication of any threats but later that day they received another call about possible shots being fired at the address.

It is believed neither Avery nor his wife, Hilary Rhoda, were there at the time. The couple have a five-year-old son, Nash. The hockey star-turned actor claimed he was on set when he discussed the incident on social media.

No one was hurt but, on Tuesday, TMZ reported that one person is in custody and the authorities’ investigation is ongoing.

It is not the first time that Avery has had a run-in with neighbors. Back in 2022, footage emerged of Avery clashing with a group of people over parking.

The ex-hockey star, who claimed he was house-sitting at the time, accused the youngsters of blocking a driveway and threatened to break their ‘windshield wipers off’.

When Avery was confronted about his comments by an older man, he warned: ‘You can kick or punch me … you’re too f***king short to actually challenge anyone.’

The 46-year-old was once christened ‘the biggest pest in hockey’ by ESPN over ‘all the all the cajoling, snide remarks and other stunts’ he pulled during his career. Back in 2008, Avery was suspended indefinitely for comments he made about his ex-girlfriends.

‘I love Canada,’ he said. ‘I just want to comment on how it’s become like a common thing in the NHL for guys to fall in love with my sloppy seconds. I don’t know what that’s about, but enjoy the game tonight.’
