The San Francisco Giants are trading away their star catcher Patrick Bailey to the Cleveland Guardians.
Bailey won MLB’s Gold Glove award in both 2024 and 2025 but had lost his starting spot with the Giants in recent weeks.
The 26-year-old had made three starts this month, with the Giants turning to recently called-up Jesus Rodríguez.
In return for Bailey, the Giants are receiving the No. 29 pick in this year’s MLB Draft and left-handed pitching prospect Matt ‘Tugboat’ Wilkinson.
Bailey has hit .224/.282/.329 with 22 home runs in 383 games since 2023.
However, according to FanGraphs, Bailey has been the most valuable defender in MLB since making his debut and has been worth 102.9 defensive runs.
