An out-of-favour Chelsea star has emerged as Bayern Munich’s priority transfer target ahead of the impending exit of Kingsley Coman to Saudi Arabia.
Coman is set to sign a three-year deal with Al-Nassr after Bayern Munich agreed to sell the French winger to the Saudi Pro League giants for a transfer fee of €30million (£26m).
With Coman the fourth senior attacking player to leave Bayern Munich this summer – following the exits of Leroy Sane, Thomas Muller and Mathys Tel – the Bundesliga giants are eager to bolster Vincent Kompany’s squad with more forward options.
According to L’Equipe, the German champions, who have already signed Luis Diaz from Liverpool for €75m (£65m) this summer, are prioritising a move for Blues misfit Christopher Nkunku.
It is believed the club’s director of football Max Eberl rates the former RB Leipzig star very highly, despite him struggling for minutes since joining Chelsea in 2023.
Bayern Munich reportedly agreed personal terms with Nkunku last winter but were unable to match Chelsea’s €70m (£60m) valuation.

However, it is claimed the Blues have now dropped their asking price to between €40m (£34m) and €50m (£43m), handing Bayern Munich a significant boost in pursuit of his signature.
Meanwhile, Chelsea have reportedly stepped up talks with Manchester United over a move for Red Devils exile Alejandro Garnacho.
The Argentine, who was placed in Ruben Amorim’s five-man ‘bomb squad’ at the start of the summer alongside fellow exiles Jadon Sancho, Antony, Marcus Rashford and Tyrell Malacia, is seeking an escape from Old Trafford ahead of what promises to be a season permanently on the sidelines.
Daily Mail Sport reported on Sunday that Garnacho has now set his mind on a move to Chelsea, with the Blues holding a strong interest in the 21-year-old exile.
The Red Devils, who initially wanted £70m for Garnacho, have reduced their asking price to £50m in the hope of securing his exit.
It is understood the Blues’ hierarchy have no concerns over his character after doing their homework – and that negotiations over Garnacho’s exit fee are underway.
