Former world champion cyclist Michal Kwiatkowski has shown off his nasty-looking scars from a crash on the road in a naked photo on Instagram.
In the Milan-San Remo race last week, 143 miles from the start line, Polish rider Kwiatkowski was involved in a brutal crash that saw him thrown into a road sign on the pavement after a collision.
The Ineos Grenadiers captain was taken to hospital with fans and other riders left concerned about his condition, and he has now revealed the brutal injuries faced – which, remarkably, involved no broken bones.
The image, shared to his Instagram story, showed large parts of his body cut and blistered, including his hip, his right leg, his right arm and his back.
The 35-year-old captioned the post: ‘Day 4. Healing Up. Getting some range back in the right leg one day at a time.’
He wrote in another post: ‘If you wonder why I struggle to bend the leg, let me tell you what the MRI showed.

The Polish rider collided with a road sign after a clash with a rival and was rushed to hospital
‘My right quad suffered severe muscle fiber damage with massive swelling spreading over 30cm, alongside a deep intramuscular hematoma and huge post-traumatic fluid collections trapped in the fascias stretching up to 24cm.
‘I don’t know how a broken bone hurts, but this hurts like hell.’
Last week, he shared a snap from a hospital bed with the caption: ‘Bruised, not broken.’
Remarkably, Kwiatkowski is still registered to be competing in the Tour of the Basque Country, which starts on April 6.
