Caitlin Clark has sparked a wave of criticism from fans after she was spotted joining country star Morgan Wallen on stage just hours after a loss in her WNBA return.
The Indiana Fever superstar made a surprise appearance during Wallen’s signature ‘walkout’ at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on Saturday night, joining the singer as he made his way to the stage for the second night of his sold-out tour.
The move has drawn sharp backlash from a section of her fanbase, with some taking to social media to express disappointment over her appearance at the concert – which came just hours after the Indiana Fever’s season-opening defeat.
‘She needs to focus on winning games and not missing game winners. She’s out of touch,’ one disgruntled fan wrote on X, in response to a video of Caitlin at the gig.
Meanwhile, another blasted the decision as a ‘terrible look’ following a day where the spotlight was already firmly fixed on her on-court behavior.
‘Terrible look for CC after losing this afternoon [and] you out partying,’ the fan wrote.

The controversy comes at a sensitive time for Clark, who had spent the afternoon embroiled in a fiery, expletive-laden exchange with Dallas Wings guard Aziaha James during their 107-104 defeat.
While Clark showed signs of brilliance in her first regular-season game since 2025, recording 20 points and seven assists, she appeared visibly frustrated by the physical defense and what she described on-camera as ‘flopping’ from her opponents.
Despite the narrow loss and the physical toll of the game – which saw her leave the court twice to address lingering back stiffness – Clark appeared in high spirits as she walked out alongside Wallen to a roar from the Indianapolis crowd.
Her teammate Sophie Cunningham was also in attendance, filming the entrance from floor seats and posting the footage to Instagram with the caption: ‘You bada** b****.’
The association has proven particularly polarizing due to Wallen’s history of high-profile scandals.

The 32-year-old country star was caught on camera using a racial slur in 2021 and was arrested in April 2024 for allegedly throwing a chair off a Nashville rooftop.
For Clark, the off-court distraction adds another layer of pressure as the Fever look to rectify their defensive struggles.
Despite her personal success – including becoming the fastest player in WNBA history to reach the 1,000-point, 250-rebound, and 250-assist milestones – the team has struggled to close out tight games.
The organization must now regroup quickly before they head to Los Angeles to face the Sparks on Wednesday.
