Caitlin Clark left fans baffled with her bizarre antics in the wake of Team USA’s victory over Italy on Saturday.

The Indiana Fever star is finally back on the court after eight months of injury trouble that curtailed her second WNBA season.

She is currently playing for her country in the FIBA World Cup qualifiers, alongside the likes of Angel Reese and Paige Bueckers.

Clark finished with 12 points and five assists as the USA secured a 93-59 win that takes them to 3-0 for the tournament.

After victory was secured, footage emerged of Team USA walking off the court towards the locker room.

In a clip that quickly spread on social media on Saturday night, Clark was seen putting her face right up to the advertising board and shuffling sideways.

It did not go unnoticed, with many fans speculating what was behind her antics. ‘Lol what was Caitlin doing,’ one wrote. ‘CC you’re hilarious,’ said another. ‘CC what are you doing,’ another asked.

Many fans believed it was a light-hearted attempt by Clark to avoid speaking to the media, with Team USA facing questions over why Clark has not been in the starting five.

Despite not having played in eight months, the point guard impressed in the Americans’ first two games – wins against Senegal and Puerto Rico – tallying a combined 25 points and 14 assists.

However, both performances came off the bench and Clark failed to start once again when the USA faced Italy on Saturday.

Head coach Kara Lawson said after the opener against Senegal that she would be experimenting with her starting combinations throughout the tournament in order to assess the young talent on her roster.

‘Team USA women’s basketball stop being stupid… nobody wants to see y’all… showcase Caitlin Clark morons,’ one social media user wrote.

‘Caitlin Clark and Paige Bueckers HAVE to be the starting backcourt for Team USA,’ another posted. ‘Best guards on the team by a landslide. Ball movement is night and day. Don’t make it harder than it is, man.’

A third said: ‘Caitlin Clark should be starting for Team USA there’s no way she should still be coming off the bench.’
