Former British Olympic bronze medallist Tony Jeffries has announced that he will no longer be living in Australia.

The 45-year-old moved to Melbourne three years ago hoping for great weather and even better company, having left California.

But, in a post on Facebook, Jeffries slammed Australia, where he laid the blame partially at the feet of the Aussies.

He also took aim at the weather in Melbourne, which seemingly did not live up to his lofty standards.

He even reserved some space to express his displeasure at the working conditions, given the difference in time zones.

Despite all the negativity from ‘The Mighty Mackem’ towards Australia he did find some space in the post to compliment the country, saying that had he lived in a different part, perhaps he would have enjoyed it more.

In his leaving post Tony Jeffries cited the weather along with the time zones as part of the reasons for his departure

Part of the reason for his leaving is the lack of connections he's been able to make since moving to Melbourne three years go

That hasn’t stopped him from sharing his excitement and joy at returning to America, despite admitting he hasn’t decided on where he and his family will be living next.

In the post on Facebook Jeffries said ‘In [six] days we leave Australia and move back to America. After two years here, it just hasn’t been the right fit.

‘Even though I work online and can literally do it from anywhere, I’ve felt pretty isolated.

‘The time zones alone have been rough, my [YouTube] videos get published at like 2am this time zone…

‘I haven’t made a single ‘connection’ here either.

‘I’m a huge believer in ‘you’re the average of the [five] people you spend the most time with and outside of my immediate fam, I genuinely haven’t been around [five] people much.

‘It’s been pretty lonely if I’m being honest.’

Not content with bashing the time zone and the people around him, Jeffries also expressed his displeasure with the weather and admitted issues were exacerbated by his Seasonal Affective Disorder.

‘Oh and the weather haha… Living in Melbourne I expected California-style sunshine year-round.

‘Turns out this city actually gets more rainfall each year than Sunderland, so AI tells me (not as near as great as [Sunderland] though).’

‘And I suffer from SAD (]Seasonal] Affective Disorder), I think I got it from being spoilt living in Cali for 10 years. so while we have been here we had to travel to find some sun when it got too rough.

‘If we lived in Gold Coast or Brisbane maybe things would have been different… I much prefer them places.’

There was enough space for Jeffries to give Australia some positive words before he departed before explaining where he would be off to next.

‘NOW I’m s*******g on Aus, it has a load of great things about it and it’s an amazing place to visit…some very nice people here too.

‘So where in the US?

‘Back to LA? As much as I loved it and would still be there if we didn’t work online and decided to travel… but probably not.

‘When people say ‘USA is the land of opportunity’, I believe they’re talking about Los Angeles.

‘We’re looking at Austin, Miami and Boca Raton, visiting all three next month to figure out where we’re planting our roots.

‘Exciting to go back, we lived in LA for 10

‘Years and it was great, all 3 of our kids [were] born and lived there most of there ]lives] but not been back for like 3 years.

‘Looking forward to this new chapter.’
