Ozzy Osbourne, the legendary Black Sabbath frontman known as the Prince of Darkness, is set to be posthumously honoured with a Brit Awards lifetime achievement award.

The iconic singer, who died aged 76 last July, just over two weeks after his “Back To The Beginning” farewell concert, where he reunited with his bandmates, will be celebrated for his profound impact on music.

His remarkable legacy will be recognised during the annual Brit Awards ceremony this Saturday. A special tribute performance, fronted by pop star Robbie Williams, will commemorate Osbourne’s “inimitable impact and influence on music worldwide”.

Curated by Ozzy’s wife, Sharon Osbourne, the performance will feature a unique arrangement of Black Sabbath’s 1991 track “No More Tears”. Williams will be joined on stage by musicians who previously played with Osbourne, including keyboardist Adam Wakeman, Metallica’s Robert Trujillo, drummer Tommy Clufetos, and guitarist Zakk Wylde.

Stacey Tang, chairwoman of the 2026 Brit Awards committee, praised Osbourne’s enduring influence, stating: “Ozzy Osbourne has been a mighty force in modern music. Possessing an unmistakable voice and unique presence, he reshaped the sound and spirit of rock, inspiring generations of artists who followed. This lifetime achievement award recognises a remarkable legacy built on originality and enduring influence that continues to connect with fans worldwide.”

Osbourne passed away on 22 July from a reported heart attack, following a period of significant health challenges, including multiple surgeries after a fall in February 2019 and a diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease.

Black Sabbath, formed in 1968, are widely credited with pioneering and popularising the heavy metal genre. Beyond his groundbreaking work with the band and a successful solo career, Osbourne also garnered a new legion of fans through the 2000s reality TV series The Osbournes, starring alongside his wife Sharon and their two youngest children.
