Bridgerton season four star Yerin Ha has revealed that she got “hives all over” her body after filming a steamy sex scene in a bathtub.
The fourth installment of the Netflix series follows Benedict Bridgerton’s (played by Luke Thompson) Cinderella-style romance with the Lady in Silver at the masquerade ball, who is eventually revealed as a hardworking maid, Sophie Baek (played by Ha).
The season charts the pair’s growing relationship as they overcome intense class barriers and societal obstacles.
In a new interview, Ha opened up about how shooting one particular intimate scene for the romantic Netflix drama left her with an uncomfortable skin condition.
“There’s a scene where we are in a bathtub and basically I put baby powder all on me because I was told it would help dry my skin to put the intimacy wear on with my tape,” she said during a recent appearance on Capital Breakfast, alongside Thompson. “And then basically the next day after the bathtub, I got hives all over my body.”
“I got folliculitis,” she explained. “But I blame myself. Because I think it was a combination of baby powder and the bath water.”
According to Thompson, he and Ha were in the bathtub “for six hours” to film the scene. However, he didn’t get folliculitis.
“So it’s me, I’m a sensitive gal,” Ha quipped.
Folliculitis occurs when hair follicles become inflamed, according to the Mayo Clinic. Symptoms can include clusters of small bumps or pimples around hair follicles, pus-filled blisters that break open and crust over, and itchy or burning skin.
The skin condition can be a result of “daily activities like shaving, getting in a hot tub, and excess sweating from exercise or outdoor work,” as noted by the Cleveland Clinic.

The bathtub sex scene was part of the last four episodes of Bridgerton season four, which were released Thursday. They also featured the shocking death of a beloved character, who joined the series during the third season.

At the beginning of episode six, everything finally seems to be going right for introverted couple Lord John Stirling and his wife Lady Francesca Stirling (née Bridgerton), following a series of challenges earlier in the season. John heads upstairs for a nap before dinner. But when Francesca tries to rouse him, he is unresponsive. The horror dawns quickly: he has died in his sleep.
“I wanted to fall off a horse,” actor Victor Alli told Netflix’s Tudum about his character’s untimely demise.
In the show, John’s cause of death is unclear; however, Alli revealed that it was an aneurysm, which was confirmed to him by the Bridgerton creative team during production.
