The Tennessee Titans landed the No. 1 pick in the upcoming NFL Draft after finishing this season 3-14 – but GM Ran Carthon won’t be given the chance to continue the team’s rebuild.
Titans president Amy Adams Strunk announced on Tuesday that the team was firing Carthon and bringing his two-year run as GM to an end.
Brian Callahan will be remaining as head coach, Strunk added.
‘I’ve loved the time I’ve spent with Ran. He’s a talented football mind, a great man, and friend to everyone along his path,’ she said.
‘It’s impossible to ignore that our football team hasn’t improved over the past two years. I am deeply disappointed in our poor win-loss record during this period, of course, but my decision also speaks to my concern about our long-term future should we stay the course.’
The Titans went a combined 9-25 over Carthon’s two seasons after he was hired in January 2023.
Carthon had signed an extension with the franchise this past offseason and has four years remaining on his current deal, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
The search for Carthon’s replacement will be led by the team’s president of football operations, Chad Brinker.
