Boreton Road Bridge – which carries an unclassified road over the Cound Brook near Condover – will be closed for repairs from 27 July to 21 August [2026].
The work comprises the reconstruction of the upstream right hand masonry wing wall and parapet, together with repairs to the existing concrete parapet within the central bays on the downstream side.
To carry out the proposed work safely it will be necessary to close the bridge to vehicular traffic. The closure will be in force 24/7.
The ford at Boreton will be monitored during the work and the bridge reopened to allow traffic to access the over if cars are unable to access across the ford during any flooding events.
When the road is closed, traffic will be diverted by a signed diversion route. For more information, please visit https://one.network/?GB150025935.
Access over the bridge for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will remain available throughout the works, and access to frontages will be maintained up to the bridge closure.
The work will be carried out by Shropshire Council’s term maintenance contractor Kier, with supervision being provided by WSP on behalf of Shropshire Council.
