A sobbing Sherrone Moore blamed his former assistant and alleged mistress for his dismissal as Michigan football coach, as well as his subsequent arrest on December 10, as seen in newly released police footage.

‘She ruined my life, man,’ the weeping 40-year-old told officers in the footage provided to the Daily Mail. ‘It’s always the women that try to do this s***, man.’

Moore was fired on December 10 after the school became aware of an alleged affair between him and a football staffer, who has since been identified as 32-year-old Paige Shiver. He was later arrested near an apartment belonging to Shiver after police received a 911 call claiming he’d burst into her residence and threatened to harm himself.

Since then, Moore has agreed to a deal, pleading no contest to misdemeanor counts of trespassing and malicious use of a telecom device in a relationship. Meanwhile, felony home invasion and stalking charges were dropped by Michigan prosecutors.

But while Moore may be hoping to turn the page on the incident, the married father of three has been thrust back into the spotlight with footage showing him blaming the entire ordeal on Shiver.

‘I have to spend a night in jail because she lied,’ Moore told officers from a Michigan hospital, where he was undergoing a mental health evaluation. ‘I never did anything to her. She straight up lied. She ruined my life… She’s lying. I wanted to get rid of her and she said I couldn’t because she’d sue me.’

Moore found a sympathetic audience with Michigan police, one of whom offered to call the coach ‘Mr. Moore.’

At one point, an emotional officer told Moore he was ‘trying not to cry with you,’ and when the fired coach said ‘it’s always the women that try to do this s***,’ the cop on hand was quick to agree.

‘I understand, I’ve been doing this for 15 years,’ he said. ‘I can relate to you.’

Aside from obtaining information about the incident, the officers seemed primarily concerned with Moore’s threats about harming himself.

Moore acknowledged bringing scissors to her apartment, where he admittedly grabbed butter knives, but he insisted he never pointed them at his assistant.

‘I did not hold anything to her, touch her, and that’s when I drove on,’ Moore said. ‘That’s when I left. I drove and I was gonna harm [myself].’

Referencing the coach’s daughters, the officer stressed the importance that Moore remain in their lives as they grow older.

‘The only thing I want to tell you, you have to see them grow up, OK?’ the officer asked. ‘That’s the only thing that matters. Doesn’t matter about your job. Doesn’t matter about career… But you have to be there for your kids, right?’

According to Moore, he wanted to fire Shiver after their affair ended, but claims she threatened to sue him if he tried.

‘So, I got fired because of a relationship with her,’ Moore said. ‘Unfortunately, outside of my marriage, it happened and I was done with it. I wanted to let her go, but I couldn’t, because she told me she would sue me. So I did not fire her.’

Speaking from the back of a police car, Moore is seen discussing his meeting with Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel, who fired the football coach earlier that day. Moore also referred to another investigation that has yet to be fully revealed publicly.

‘There’s an investigation about a whole bunch of other stuff about other women, other people,’ Moore told officers before adding, ‘which never happened.’

After the meeting with Manuel, Moore told officers he got into his car and drove to his assistant’s apartment. Although Shiver’s name is redacted throughout the clips, Moore repeatedly refers to the woman as his ‘assistant,’ which is a role Shiver held for the better part of three years.

Court documents reviewed by the Daily Mail do not name Shiver but do say an executive assistant claimed to have been in an ‘intimate relationship’ with Moore. He confirmed the affair to detectives, admitting that it had lasted ‘approximately two years.’

The staffer is alleged to have ended the relationship two days before the arrest. Later, she filed a formal report to the University of Michigan revealing the details of their secret romance.

Police and prosecutors say Moore bombarded his former mistress with ‘dozens of text messages and calls’ over the next two days.

‘I hate you. My blood is on your hands,’ he said, according to court transcripts.

Since then, Shiver has been identified as Moore’s alleged former mistress in numerous media reports. Furthermore, court files have referred to Moore’s alleged mistress as his executive assistant, which is her now-former title.

Shiver’s contract with the Wolverines has recently expired, an athletic department spokesman told the Daily Mail.

Moore, meanwhile, hopes to coach again, according to his attorney.

‘Here is a man who has devoted himself to working hard to get where he needs to be,’ attorney Ellen Michaels told reporters in Ann Arbor after the trial. ‘And I can tell you that this is a man who will continue his path and continue his journey, and he will do what it takes to get there.’

A former offensive lineman at Oklahoma, the Kansas native became a graduate assistant coach at Louisville before getting added to head coach Charlie Strong’s full-time staff in 2012. Moore would go on to join Central Michigan as an assistant before being hired by now-former Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh in 2019.

After winning the 2023 national championship as the Wolverines offensive coordinator, Moore was promoted to head coach in Ann Arbor as Harbaugh took the Los Angeles Chargers job in the NFL.

Getting another job in football won’t be easy and Michaels said his first priority is focusing on his wife and daughters.

‘He has had the opportunity to be with his daughters, to be with his wife, to be home for the holidays, to take his kids to swim lessons,’ Michaels said. ‘As somebody who came up the coaching tree and became a head coach at a young age, that is something he missed out on.’
