A teen girl died from multiple stab wounds, an inquest has heard.
Lilly Jones, 14, was reported missing from her home in Blaina, Blaenau Gwent, on June 20, before she was discovered in Duffryn Park woodlands two days later.
Her preliminary cause of death was given as multiple stab wounds to the neck and torso.
A 14-year-old boy, who cannot be named, has been charged with her murder and appeared in court last week.
The short hearing was told emergency services were called to the woodlands but Lilly was later pronounced dead.
Senior Gwent Coroner Caroline Saunders said that given the traumatic nature of the teenager’s death it was appropriate to hold an inquest, but adjourned it to a later date due to the ongoing police investigation.
A provisional inquest date has been set for April 6 next year.
A further court hearing is set to take place later this month for the 14-year-old boy, and his trial date has been set for November this year.
The youth, who has not entered a plea to the murder charge, was remanded into custody until his next court appearance.
