Hollywood star and courtside regular Ben Stiller has officially confirmed that he is directing a multi-part documentary series chronicling the New York Knicks.
The lifelong fan broke the news during a live appearance on Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart’s Roommates Show on Wednesday, putting an end to weeks of speculation.
The project, which is being produced in tandem with indie powerhouse studio A24 for HBO, has secured full backing and unprecedented clearance from both Madison Square Garden executives and the NBA front office.
‘It’s a dream project,’ Stiller revealed during his exclusive interview, noting that the production crew has already spent significant time capturing raw footage behind the scenes throughout the postseason.
While the documentary will heavily feature the franchise’s recent, historic rise to the NBA championship, Stiller emphasized that the final series will look far deeper than just the 2026 Finals run.
The cinematic feature aims explore the cultural impact and dramatic evolution of all eras of Knicks basketball through decades of heartbreak and triumph.

‘So, it’s super exciting,’ the director added. ‘And it’s great to have all this access to your team… We’re probably going to be shooting a little bit more during next season as well.’
The Zoolander creator was a constant fixture on Celebrity Row throughout the playoffs, frequently spotted using his personal phone to film his evenings.
