Twins manager Derek Shelton was heard cursing at an umpire in a foul-mouthed argument after he was ejected.

Shelton vented his fury at umpire Nic Lentz during Minnesota’s 5-4 loss to the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday.

The Twins boss was ejected after Reds shortstop Elly de la Cruz checked his swing on a pitch and then, just moments later, hit a two-out single.

Shelton was heard arguing with Lentz over a hot microphone. ‘I did not say anything to you,’ he said.

‘I said, “Let’s f***ing go.” God damnit, come on. I didn’t say anything to you. I said nothing to you.’

It was not clear what the umpire was accusing Shelton of saying but the Twins manager was thrown out for the second time this season.

‘I did not say that,’ he insisted. ‘No. No. No I didn’t. I did not say anything to you. All I said was, “Let’s f***ing go.’ No, that’s bulls***. You did not. God dammit. C’mon.’

The following day, the Reds rallied past the Twins 7-4 for a three-game sweep after TJ Friedl hit a go-ahead, three-run double in the ninth inning and Rece Hinds added a two-run double in the 10th.

Cincinnati scored six runs over the final two innings to win its third extra-inning game this season, matching its total from 2025.

The NL Central-leading Reds are 11-0 in games decided by three or fewer runs, including 6-0 in one-run games.

The Twins, meanwhile, are 11-11 for the season. Shelton served as manager of the Pittsburgh Pirates from 2020 to 2025 before taking over in Minnesota in October. He previously worked as bench coach for the Twins in 2018 and 2019.
