The Baltimore Ravens have announced that Jesse Minter has been appointed their new head coach following the departure of John Harbaugh.
Harbaugh spent 18 seasons in charge of the Ravens before being fired earlier this month.
He was the most successful coach in franchise history but lost his job after Baltimore failed to make the playoffs.
The Ravens interviewed 16 different candidates for the role, including ex-Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel, Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver and Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady.
But on Thursday, it was confirmed that the top job had gone to Minter. It is a first head coaching role for the 42-year-old who most recently served as defensive coordinator of the Los Angeles Chargers
He previously spent several years on the Ravens staff and, in a statement on Thursday, Baltimore general manager Eric DeCosta heaped praise on the 42-year-old.
