Gordon Ramsay joked that ‘every CVS is out of pregnancy tests’ after the women of Boston hailed the Tartan army for ‘restoring their faith in men’.

Thousands of Scotsmen flocked to the US this month to support the national team at their first World Cup appearance in 28 years.

And, while Scotland failed to make much of a mark on the pitch, their fans have made quite the impression on the women of the east coast.

The Scots spent more than a week in Boston between their opening two matches against Morocco and Haiti – and were praised for ‘bringing the vibes to the city’ by thousands of young women on social media.

Now, during an appearance on Gary Lineker’s The Rest is Football, celebrity chef Ramsay joked that Scotland’s supporters have put the English to shame.

He told Micah Richards, Alan Shearer and Lineker: ‘We had a bad reputation – so to see the way they’re being received over here. I mean, every girl has fallen in love with them in Boston.

An estimated 50,000 Scots flocked to Boston for their country’s first World Cup appearance in 28 years

‘I think every CVS has run out of pregnancy tests in the last 24 hours as well. So it’s been a busy two weeks! I’m going to see that sea of ginger when it’ll be like, “Make America Ginger Again!”

‘It’s going to go f*****g crazy in Boston. They’ve now named Boston, “Twin Tower Glasgow”, and I don’t think many Bostoners have even been to Glasgow! They’re going to s**t themselves when they get off that plane, let me tell you!’

After the Scots were pictured partying hard at the city’s bars after their 1-0 win over Haiti, hundreds of locals flooded to TikTok to share videos of them dancing and embracing the visiting supporters.

One blonde woman even organised a dating event, and called on all Scots to visit a bar where 100 single US women were desperate to meet them.

Another lady, who posted a video of her in one man’s arms, wrote on the app: ‘I may not be happily married but at least I’m single while the Scottish are in town for the World Cup.’

A separate video, which racked up more than 70,000 likes, showed a fan carrying a woman on his back through the streets of Boston, with the caption reading: ‘If he won’t, a Scottish man will.’

While one more TikToker hailed the ‘kindness’ of the travelling Britons, urging American men to take notes.

The lady said: ‘If I was a single girly living in Boston right now… you need to go by the bars. If you don’t go, you’re doing something wrong because you could find a nice Scottish man.

‘They seem very nice. They wanted to pet my dog. So I’m just saying, you should all go (to local bars).’

It was estimated that more than 50,000 fans flooded to the east coast as Scotland began their World Cup campaign.

Devon Savage, who owns the company which runs the local bar Samuel Adams Taproom, said the travelling fans ‘had drunk them dry’.

She added: ‘For perspective, from Thursday to Sunday, the Tartan Army drank four times as much Boston Lager as we run through on a typical four-day holiday stretch like July 4.

‘We had to schedule an emergency delivery on Saturday morning. We sold over 3,000 pints of lager over the weekend with our teams picking up 70 empty kegs on Monday.’

A host of other Boston pubs, bars and nightclubs also recorded sales.

The Scots, in fact, impressed mayor of the city Michelle Wu so much that it was announced yesterday that a letter of intent had been signed to make Glasgow and Boston twin cities.

Mrs Wu said: ‘We are both cities that are champions of arts and culture and innovation, but also we are willing to fight for it.

‘We have the grit, we have the passion for making sure people are at the center of everything that we do. There are many points in our history where Boston and Scotland have been tied hand in hand.’

But, when it was the turn of the English to roll into town, they didn’t go down quite as well with the locals.

Around 14,000 travelled to the city for the Three Lions’ 0-0 draw with Ghana this week with large, noisy gatherings forming across the city’s Downtown Area.

At The White Bull Tavern, partying reportedly tipped into chaos with staff closing early after supporters were seen standing on furniture and knocking chandeliers.

A staff member said around 200 fans had filled the bar on Monday night and warned of a ‘crazy’ atmosphere after the match, predicting earlier closures for nearby venues.

And Boston residents were quick to react online, with one person writing on X: ‘Just met my first group of England fans in Boston. Some of the worst vibes I’ve ever encountered. Please do what you did in 1776 and evacuate xx’.

However, unfortunately for the Americans, it looks like Scotland’s soiree across the pond is all but over after they were thrashed 3-0 by Brazil on Wednesday night.

It left the Scots third place in their group with a -3 goal difference, making it highly unlikely Steve Clarke’s side will progress to the Round of 32.
