A cable car carrying tourists in southern Italy crashed on Thursday, 17 April, after the cable snapped, killing at least four people.
Sixteen people in a cable car closer to the bottom were lowered to safety by Italian firefighters and alpine rescue teams working to save those trapped.
Italy’s alpine rescue team was responding to the accident at Monte Faito in the town of Castellammare di Stabia.
The cable car is popular for its views of Mount Vesuvius and the Bay of Naples, with the accident taking place a week after the destination reopened for the tourist season.
