Shropshire Council is appealing for information following the discovery of a highly concerning fly-tip in Horderley, near Wistanstow.

Initial investigations suggest the waste may be linked to the motor trade, with possible connections to the Crewe and Derby areas. The council is actively pursuing several lines of enquiry, but is asking people for their help.

People are asked to contact the council if they have:

• Seen suspicious vehicles in or around Horderley
• Dashcam footage from the area in recent days
• Information about waste carriers, garages, or scrap activity linked to this type of material
• Any knowledge of movements from the Crewe or Derby areas into South Shropshire

A council spokesperson said:

“This type of environmental crime shows a clear disregard for our communities, wildlife, and rural environment. We are committed to identifying and holding those responsible to account, and we will take enforcement action where evidence allows. Let’s work together to protect Shropshire and make it clear that fly-tipping will not be tolerated.”

Anyone with any information, no matter how small it may seem, is asked to email [email protected], or report it via the Shropshire Council website or Fix My Street app.

Fly-tipping of any scale is not victimless. It:

• Damages our countryside
• Costs taxpayers money to clear and investigate
• Harms habitats and wildlife
• Undermines those who respect and care for their local area
