Another Kanye West show has been cancelled, this time by Swiss football club FC Basel.

Swiss media had earlier reported that the controversial rapper and producer would perform at St Jakob-Park, the home of FC Basel, in June.

However, representatives for the club told Reuters that the planned show was “not in accordance with our values” and had decided not to proceed following a review.

“FCB received an enquiry and considered it,” the spokesperson said. “However, after thorough review, we have decided not to proceed with the project, as we cannot, in accordance with our values, provide a platform for the artist in question within this context.”

West, who now goes by Ye, has had a number of shows either cancelled or postponed following a backlash over his past antisemitic comments.

He was due to appear at the Silesian Stadium in Chorzów on 19 June, which would have marked his first performance in Poland in 15 years. But the venue said on Friday (17 April) that it would not go ahead “due to formal and legal reasons”.

The decision came after Poland’s culture minister, Marta Cienkoska, spoke out against the show, branding it “unacceptable”.

“We are talking about an artist who has publicly made antisemitic views, downplayed crimes and profited from selling swastika T-shirts,” she wrote on X. “These are not ‘controversies’. This is a deliberate crossing of boundaries and the normalisation of hatred.”

Earlier this month, West’s three-night headline slot at Wireless Festival in London was blocked after the UK government denied him entry to the country.

West also announced that his planned show at the Orange Velodrome in Marseille, France, on 11 June was postponed until further notice.

“After much thought and consideration, it is my sole decision to postpone my show in Marseille,” he wrote on X. “I know it takes time to understand the sincerity of my commitment to make amends.

“I take full responsibility for what’s mine but I don’t want to put my fans in the middle of it. My fans are everything to me. Looking forward to the next shows. See you at the top of the globe.”

West still has several other shows scheduled, with the promoter for his concert in Madrid telling The Independent: “The Ye Live Madrid show is going ahead as planned. We’re confident it will sell out in the coming weeks and deliver an incredible night for Ye fans.”
