Amanda Serrano has insisted she did not mean to disrespect Katie Taylor despite going on a social media tirade following her defeat by Irish fighter on Friday.
More than two years after their history-making clash at Madison Square Garden, Serrano and Taylor once again met inside the ring, this time as the co-main event for Jake Paul’s showdown with Mike Tyson.
Just as they did in their first encounter, before fighters refused to give an inch over ten two-minute rounds.
Serrano was the more productive of the pair while Taylor proved more efficient with her punches in an all-action affair.
However, the clash was marred by multiple clashes of heads that occured as Taylor looked to close the distance against her southpaw opponent.
The 2012 Olympic champion was warned on several occasions by the referee as a large cut opened up over Serrano’s right eye before she was deducted a point in the eighth round.

However the showdown was marred by repeated clashes of heads that saw Taylor deducted a point in round eight
Despite the ruling, Taylor once again did enough in the eyes of the judges to get the nod, with all three scorecards giving her the advantage 95-94.
The decision proved controversial among many supporters in attendance, and Serrano’s promoter Paul later took to social media to claim that his fighter deserved to get the nod.
Serrano later claimed that Taylor’s habit of leading with her head had changed the trajectory of the fight and shared a graphic photo of her laceration.
She wrote: ‘To my fans I’m going to always give it everything I have.
‘I’m a ruthless warrior & Katie is my buddy but Damn her best attribute is her head. No punching power but hard ass head lol’.
In a later social media post on Saturday though, Serrano appeared to reverse course and insist that she did not intend to disrespect her opponent.
‘Congratulations to @KatieTaylor in her decision win. Tempers are flared when you’re in the heat of battle & you say things you shouldn’t say.’ She admitted.
‘I’m not one to ever disrespect an opponent & these were never my intentions to Katie. She & I are cool outside the ring and the best dance partners in the ring.

Serrano initially vented her frustration on social media, appearing to claim Taylor’s headbutts were intentional
The 36-year-old shared a graphic image of the cut she sustained during the 10-round fight
But she later insisted that she didn’t intend to disrespect her opponent and noted that the hopes the pair can meet inside the ring once more
‘In no way should I ever had said she did it purposely, it’s her style that makes for them.
‘I’m Not perfect and tho I try my hardest to be the nicest person I can be I’m human & being emotionally hurt can sometimes misguide you in what you say.
‘I’m ok, I’m healthy a bit bruised and cut but still blessed beyond belief. We both came out with our health intact & that’s what I prayed for.
‘Whenever our teams can agree on a Trilogy I’ll be ready. I hope you guys all enjoyed women’s boxing at its highest level.’
