A school Christmas concert audience couldn’t help falling in love with a boy who went on stage as Elvis Presley instead of Elvis the Elf.
But nine-year-old Oscar was not at all shook up and performed with the rest of the children.
Oscar from Aberdare, Rhondda Cynon Taf, had told his family he needed an Elvis costume for the play.
So his mum, who did not have a suspicious mind, sent him in full rock ‘n’ roll gear.
His elder sister Jade told Wales “every year the school does something different – last year I think he was an alien”.
“So when he said he needed to be Elvis, we just thought it was strange but okay.”
But Oscar had missed a crucial detail – he was cast as Elvis the Elf.
Asked if Oscar made any complaints about the outfit before the concert, he simply said it “was not sparkly enough.”
The family only realised there had been a mix-up when he appeared with classmates dressed as elves, Jade said.
“All the other children were dressed as elves,” she said.
“We definitely were not made aware that he had the wrong costume until it became apparent.”
Even then, Oscar did not seem concerned.
“He was completely blase about it.
“He really enjoyed it, nothing fazes him,” she said.
