MSG executive chairman and CEO James Dolan is officially relinquishing control of one of his major sports teams, according to a report.
Dolan acquired the New York Knicks and the New York Rangers, who both play at the famous arena 27 years ago but is now scaling back his involvement.
The MSG chief is reportedly handing over the day-to-day ownership responsibilities for the Rangers to his son Quentin, according to the New York Post.
Quentin, 32, will now reportedly assume the titles of Rangers president, chief operating officer and alternate governor.
Rangers president and general manager Chris Drury will report to Quentin rather than Dolan, but the change is not expected to affect Drury’s responsibilities.
‘I think it’s something I’ve been building towards, and I’ll be working my hardest and probably proving to myself for a while that I’m ready,’ Quentin told The Post.

‘For me, the ultimate goal is winning a championship. It’s been a goal of mine to really continue my family’s legacy, and that’s something that I understood about myself and wanted early on. This is a continuation of that and it feels right.’
He previously held various roles within the MSG organization and has served on the MSG Sports board of directors since 2021.
His most notable job to date had been as SVP of player performance and science for both the Rangers and Knicks.
The role equipped him with experience on sports performance and biotech research and product development projects.
He has also served as vice president, strategic adviser to the executive chairman and as investment director.
The change in control of the NHL team is not expected to affect the day-to-day operations of the Knicks.

The Knicks won their first NBA Championship title in 53 years last month, beating the San Antonio Spurs.
Quentin is also said to have been instrumental in ending the team’s drought through his background overseeing medical, strength and conditioning, nutrition, mental performance and performance data operations for both the Knicks and the Rangers.
Now, his focus has switched to replicating the Knicks’ success with the Rangers, who have not won the Stanley Cup since 1994.
They have failed to reach the playoffs in the past two seasons following yet another miserable season for the Blueshirts.
The nightmare season forced Drury to issue a message to fans in January, informing them of the intention for a restructuring ‘built around our core players and prospects.’
