Jacked footy great Ben Cousins has proved he has what could be the best 47-year-old physique in Australia in a video that shows he’s still training like a man half his age.

The former West Coast star posted a video of his demanding workout to Instagram on Sunday, with the vision showing him going through a range of upper-body and leg exercises.

Cousins can be seen performing hack squats to target his legs, overhead presses and delt raises to work his shoulders, bicep curls and heavy chest presses.

His followers were mightily impressed with what they saw, with several praising him for his dedication in the gym.

‘Absolute weapon, this bloke!’ one wrote.

‘What a great Australian story of getting your life back on track mate,’ added another.

The footy great's fans were stunned by his physique, with one calling him 'cut like a diamond' and another saying he is 'in for the 2027 season'

‘To see you fit, healthy and thriving again given where you have been is magnificent to see,’ a third wrote, referring to Cousins’ well-documented issues with drug addiction and trouble with the law.

Others took a cheekier tack with their compliments.

‘Can you stop? My wife’s on this app,’ one joked.

‘Great. I’m nearly 50 and I just ovulated once again,’ another wrote.

Other commenters cracked jokes about the video being AI-generated, said Cousins was ‘cut like a diamond’ and one said, ‘Benny boy is in for the 2027 season,’ as he looked fitter than some current AFL stars.

Cousins was famously dedicated to his conditioning during his playing days and nothing has changed now that he has appeared to put his difficult past behind him.

In a previous video, he told his fans, ‘If I can help it, I try to start the year in reasonable shape, so now I’ve just got to maintain it,’ over footage of him running on the treadmill, doing incline chest presses, single-leg quadriceps extensions and working on his core strength with a dumbbell.

He captioned the post, ‘Don’t let getting into shape hang over your head all year. Get your work done early.’

Cousins is pictured showing off his physique during a telethon in Perth last October. He has previously said he likes to get into shape at the start of every year, then stay that way

Cousins was recently hit by shattering news when his father Bryan – who is a West Australian footy legend in his own right – revealed he has been diagnosed with motor neurone disease.

The 72-year-old announced the shattering news in a one-on-one Q&A with highly regarded cancer researcher Professor Bruce Robinson in late May and explained how the first signs of the disease became apparent.

‘I was running along the beach and started to struggle. A bloke stopped me and asked if I was OK,’ Cousins said.

‘I went to a neurologist and I started looking at what I might have, and I got the one disease I didn’t want to get, which was MND, which I got diagnosed [with] 12 months ago.

‘I got teary mainly because I thought, “How am I going to tell the kids?”

‘I texted them on a Saturday and asked them to come around home on Sunday and we had a big cuddle and we discussed MND.’
