Hawthorn up-and-comer Jack Dalton suffered every teenager’s nightmare when his mum crashed his interview.

The 34th pick in the 2025 draft has made a great start to life with the Hawks and he showed that on Friday.

The young Hawks star was a standout performer against the Giants at the MCG on Friday night when he kicked two goals and made six tackles in their victory.

His impressive performances since joining the AFL side are made even more impressive considering he suffered two broken wrists back in March 2025.

And that is where Dalton’s mum comes in, the 19-year-old was being interviewed by Channel 7 after his great performance.

During which, Dalton’s mum turned around and found herself right in the middle of the panel.

Jack Dalton was aked about breaking both of his wrists in a freak gym accident in March 2025

That is when his mum joined the broadcast and revealed she had to help 'wipe his bum' as Dalton tried to cover her mouth with everyone breaking out in laughter

And when they asked what she had to do in order to help support Dalton through his double wrist break, she responded, ‘There was a bit of bum wiping.’

That drew laughter from the entire panel as well as Dalton who attempted to cover her mouth to stop her spilling anymore embarrassing secrets.

That was a futile attempt as his mum continued, ‘showering. You know, just things you do for a toddler.’

Dalton’s mum however waxed lyrical about her son and spoke of how proud she is of Dalton following his impressive start to life in the AFL after his injury.

‘So proud, but so many sacrifices to get to this point, yeah,’ she said, in a moment that clearly touched Jack.

‘And to think that this time last year, he was pretty much … like that,’ pointing to the photo of him in his hospital bed.

Dalton broke his wrists in a freak accident in the gym while he was box squatting, he was using resistance bands on each side of the bar when it happened.

‘Went down, came up, the bar rolled back, and both my wrists snapped,’ Dalton explained.

There was also a chance for Dalton to talk about his time at Hawthorn after his mum had already stolen the spotlight.

‘I just sit down, do a vision with him [Dylan Moore]. I sit in his back pocket, probably annoy him a bit too much,’ Dalton said of his mentor. ‘But I’m just trying to get to where he was and he is.’

He was also full of praise for the culture in and around the club, saying, ‘It’s such an amazing group of people. And to come into training each week, each day, it’s like the best fun ever. It’s just a bunch of great guys. No ego,’ he said.

‘Everyone wants to get better. Everyone has that same determination and motivation towards the big success at the end of the year.’
