Aussie football great Robbie Slater has taken aim at school teachers across the country who aren’t allowing students to watch the Socceroos.

Tony Popovic’s men are underway in San Francisco, when they face Paraguay in their final group stage match of the tournament.

Slater, 61, has taken to X to voice his disgust, revealing he has received messages from parents of frustrated school children.,

‘I am receiving messages saying that certain schools won’t show the game because the teachers aren’t into soccer!,’ Slater wrote.

‘Disgraceful it’s Australia! It’s not about which code you support!’

Fans on social media stand with Slater, and have since slammed educators for their decision.

‘That’s like not showing Olympic swimming final because you don’t follow swimming as sport,’ one person replied.

‘In the words of the great Bob Hawke – Any boss or teacher who doesn’t let their employees or students watch the @Socceroos today is a bum,’ another added.

‘My wife is a teacher, and they have the big projector in the hall showing the game. GET AROUND THE LADS,’ another said.

Australia must either win or draw the match against Paraguay to finish second in its group, for a guaranteed spot in the knockout stages.

If the side loses, it must rely on other results going its way, to finish as one of the eight best performing third place teams.

Slater played 28 matches for the Socceroos across the late 1980s, and 1990s – and enjoyed several seasons as an EPL player.
