The Indiana Fever have removed an image from their Instagram account after being called out by star guard Caitlin Clark for their use of AI tools.

On Thursday, the Fever posted a gallery to promote the local broadcast schedule for the upcoming 2026 regular season.

The first image showed Clark and teammate Aliyah Boston – with Clark sitting on a crate with one foot on top of an old television.

But something was off with the picture: Clark’s hand looked particularly different than the rest of her.

Not only did fans notice, but Clark did as well – commenting under the post, ‘New hand alert.’

While the comment is still visible under the post, the image of Clark and Boston has been removed – leaving only the calendar of upcoming games.

A source told FrontOfficeSports that the mistake in the image came from the use of an AI tool to try to combine two separate images of Clark and Boston.

The source did not reveal which AI design software was used in the creation of the image.

Usage of artificial intelligence has become controversial among sports fans, especially when it comes to team graphics.

Recently, OpenAI’s system – ChatGPT – released an update to their software that allows for the creation of better images and graphics.

However, professional graphic designers and sports teams have been critical of others’ use of the technology.
