Paige Shiver, the former mistress of fired Michigan football coach Sherrone Moore, became pregnant during their yearslong affair but was forced to terminate the pregnancy over health concerns.
As she revealed in her bombshell interview with ABC, Shiver was already pregnant when she learned she was suffering from Pompe disease, a rare, inherited lysosomal storage disorder that weakens muscle. Doctors feared for her safety while Moore, the 40-year-old married father with whom she was having an affair, urged her to terminate the pregnancy.
‘Multiple doctors and experts told me that it wouldn’t be right or healthy for me to keep the baby,’ she told ABC. ‘[Moore] said you have to do what’s right for your body.’
Moore was fired on December 10th following a university investigation into an ‘inappropriate relationship’ with Shiver, his personal assistant. It was Shiver who informed the school about the relationship.
He was arrested that same day near an apartment belonging to Shiver after police received a call claiming he had entered her residence and threatened to harm himself.
The disgraced Michigan coach received an 18-month probation sentence earlier this month after pleading no contest to misdemeanor trespassing and malicious use of a telecommunications device.
Judge J. Cedric Simpson did order prison sentences of 180 days and 30 days, but the terms were both suspended, meaning Moore won’t have to go to jail if he abides by the requirements of his probation.
