Kevin Federline is “happy” to see Britney Spears getting help on her own terms.

The singer’s ex-husband spoke out on Monday through his lawyer about Spears voluntarily checking into rehab following her DUI arrest last month.

“Kevin is aware of the reports that she has checked into rehab and that if she needs help, he is happy that she is getting help and that the decision appears to be one that she made and not one imposed upon her by others if it was,” his lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, told TMZ.

Kaplan was not immediately available for comment to Page Six.

Spears’ decision to get help with substance abuse was her own choice, a source told Page Six Sunday, after her rep confirmed to us that she had checked herself into rehab.

“This isn’t about one substance in particular, it has a dual purpose….this is about Britney putting her mental health first and taking some time for herself to focus on the things that are important to her,” the source added.

“She’s dedicated to working on her health. This is something she really wants to do for herself. This was her own decision.”

Federline — who was married to Spears from 2004 to 2007 — shares two sons with the singer: Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19.

Our source said the “Toxic” singer’s family is supportive of Spears’ decision to go to rehab.

“Everyone just wants Britney to be healthy and in a good place and the fact that this was her decision just proves how dedicated she is to her own recovery and getting herself back on solid ground,” the source said.

On March 4, Spears was taken into custody after authorities saw her swerving in and out of lanes. They also allegedly discovered an unknown substance inside her car during her arrest and she is believed to have been on a cocktail of alcohol and drugs.

Spears has been spending time with her sons after her arrest. She posted pics with Sean and Jayden on a yacht getaway last month.

Sean now goes by “Sean P Spears” on Instagram, whereas his old handle was simply “Sean Preston.”
