The Indiana Fever have officially re-signed Sophie Cunningham.

The franchise confirmed the news on Sunday afternoon, revealing that the 29-year-old will reunite with close friend Caitlin Clark after signing a one-year contract.

In a statement on the Fever’s website, Cunningham said: ‘We had a really special group last year and it was an incredible first season for me in Indy; I loved everything about my teammates and the Fever organization.

‘We fought through a ton of adversity, and it was important to me that we have a chance to see through what we started.

‘I have a feeling this is going to be another special season, so I’m excited to get things started and to, of course, keep playing in front of the best fans in the WNBA.’

During the 2025 season, she averaged a career-high 43.2 percent from beyond the arc, proving to be one of the most reliable shooters in the WNBA.

She made 30 appearances for the Fever last season before suffering an MCL tear which cut her season short and cast doubt over her future.

Before joining Indiana, the 6-foot-1 guard spent six years with the Phoenix Mercury.

She holds a career scoring average of nearly nine points per game, though her impact often goes beyond the box score due to her vocal leadership on court.

Beyond her shooting, Cunningham has formed a formidable bond with superstar Caitlin Clark, with the pair becoming a highlight of the Fever’s social media.

The duo’s chemistry was evident throughout the 2025 campaign, as they combined to form one of the most dangerous long-distance scoring threats in the WNBA.

Clark has previously praised Cunningham’s attitude and defensive intensity, noting that having a veteran like Sophie makes her own job much easier.

Cunningham emerged as a true leader in Indiana during the 2025 season, famously defending Clark on the court during several heated physical encounters.
