Rory McIlroy is the Masters champion once again after producing a clinical final round at Augusta National to secure back-to-back green jackets.

By winning for the second consecutive year, the Northern Irishman joins the immortal trio of Jack Nicklaus, Nick Faldo, and Tiger Woods as the only players to successfully defend a Masters title.

The 36-year-old’s victory was a masterclass in resilience, displaying immense composure on the back nine to fend off a fierce Sunday charge from world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler.

McIlroy seized control at Amen Corner, firing a shot over Rae’s Creek on the par-3 12th for birdie before adding another at the 13th to move three shots clear.

Despite a wild drive on the 18th that finished near the 10th fairway, he scrambled for a bogey to card a 1-under 71 and finish at 12-under par for the tournament.

The victory was a one-shot triumph over Scheffler, who had clawed his way back from being 12 strokes behind at the start of the weekend to nearly pull off an unthinkable upset.

After appearing to fumble his historic six-shot lead during a shaky Saturday 73, McIlroy silenced any doubters with a dominant and clinical performance on the final day.
