The Atlanta Falcons have lost one crucial piece on their offensive line, but have gained another in his absence.
Falcons starting right tackle Kaleb McGary has announced his retirement after just seven seasons in the NFL.
The 31-year-old McGary announced the decision on the social media account of his agent, Collin Roberts. The Falcons then announced the decision on their social media.
‘I truly enjoyed my time playing alongside Kaleb,’ said Falcons president of football Matt Ryan in a statement. ‘He was an outstanding teammate and had a tremendous career as a Falcon.
‘We are grateful for the impact he made on this organization, and we wish him nothing but the best in retirement.’
To replace him, the Falcons signed former Kansas City Chiefs tackle Jawaan Taylor.

How will losing a veteran like McGary impact the Falcons’ chances with Tua Tagovailoa at quarterback?
Taylor was inked on a one-year, $5million deal – which was announced hours after McGary’s retirement revelation.
He’ll have the job of protecting Atlanta’s new quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa, who signed from Miami in free agency.
McGary arrived in Atlanta as a first-round pick out of the University of Washington – instantly becoming a key piece of the team’s blocking unit.
He made 92 starts across 93 games from 2019-2024.
But this past season, he suffered an injury in his lower left leg late in training camp that led to him missing the entire 2025 season.
