Tiger Woods discussing his call with President Trump during his DUI arrest was a ‘douche move’ in a scene ‘that had privilege written all over it’, Megyn Kelly has said.

Astonishing copcam footage surfaced on Thursday showing the scenes in the aftermath of Woods’ rollover near his Jupiter Island home. He was arrested last Friday for DUI and while he pleads not guilty, he has flown to Switzerland for rehab after police found two opioids on him.

But the lengthy police footage revealed several extraordinary exchanges between Woods and the police. He brags about his putter in his car that ‘won 14 majors’, he talks about potentially playing at The Masters – now a distant dream for the golfing great – and in the most remarkable moment, wanders off on a phone call.

After a policeman beckoned Woods to come back towards him, Woods puts his phone away and says he was talking ‘to the President’.

It is, at present, not completely certain who called who but Woods is close to Trump. Kelly, however, is confident it was Woods who instigated the contact.

‘We now know he called President Trump,’ she said on a recent episode of The Megyn Kelly show. ‘As soon as he rolled the car, got out of it and the cops were there, he called the President.

‘Which is a douche move, I think. It’s very clear he called to try to get out of this somehow.’

‘There’s a statement where he later says to the cops on the scene ‘he was very apologetic for what he did last night’. The night before, Trump had been on Fox News and said I don’t think Tiger is going to play The Masters this year.

‘Keep in mind he knows Tiger, they are friends from the golf course and Trump’s former daughter-in-law, Vanessa Trump, is now dating him – Don Jr.’s ex.

‘So it sounds like Trump said something he wasn’t at liberty to say and had apologized to Tiger in that phone call.

I suppose there is a chance Trump called Tiger to apologize just in the few seconds after the rollover! But I am going to go with Tiger called him and asked for some help because he knew it would be a PR disaster, possibly a legal one.’

Trump has offered Woods his sympathy over the situation and said that the American golfing great ‘lives a life of pain.’

Trump said: ‘He tested negative for alcohol, as you know. He is under a tremendous physical pressure from his various ailments, you know, the back and the leg. He doesn’t have an alcohol problem, but he does have pain.’

Woods had a seventh back surgery last October and also tore his Achilles in March 2025, which required surgery. Woods also shattered his right leg in a car crash in California in 2021, losing control of his car then while driving at high speed.

Kelly, who was joined on the show by Daily Mail columnist Maureen Callahan, said that Woods appeared to get away with more than most while police officers were assessing the scene.

‘The whole thing has got privilege written all over it,’ she added. ‘You and I rolling a vehicle, pupils dilated and walk away?’

Woods released a statement on Tuesday about seeking professional help for managing his prescription medication.

‘I know and understand the seriousness of the situation I find myself in today,’ Woods said. ‘I am stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health. This is necessary in order for me to prioritize my well-being and work toward lasting recovery.

‘I’m committed to taking the time needed to return in a healthier, stronger and more focused place, both personally and professionally.

‘I appreciate your understanding and support, and ask for privacy for my family, loved ones and myself at this time.’
