More than 900 registered advisers joined the Immigration Advice Authority (IAA) and sector experts for its annual Adviser Conference, held online on Tuesday 3 February.

The event provided attendees with essential updates on how the IAA is responding to stakeholder feedback, an introduction to the new Immigration Services Commissioner, detailed information on the IAA’s enforcement powers, and key Home Office developments that will impact the immigration advice sector.

Attendees also heard from leading experts, including barrister Adam Pipe, who outlined recent developments and forthcoming changes in immigration law, and Asylum Aid, who discussed the need for training and the impact of Asylum Aid’s Compass programme. Both sessions offered valuable insight and context for advisers across the sector. The day concluded with an engaging Q&A session, giving attendees the chance to put their questions directly to IAA leaders and guest speakers.

Heather Laing, Chief Executive, said

The conference was an invaluable opportunity to hear from leading experts whose insights cut to the heart of the challenges and developments shaping immigration advice today.

Having more than 900 professionals join us for this year’s conference truly reflects the strength, dedication and collaborative spirit of our sector.

As the sector evolves, the IAA remains committed to supporting advisers with the guidance, tools and clarity needed to deliver safe, high‑quality advice.

Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to the conference.

These events will now take place twice a year, with the next one scheduled for Tuesday 15 September. Advisers should look out for joining details in their inboxes closer to the time.

Together, we can continue to champion best practice across the sector and ensure safe access to immigration advice.
