A fresh update to Stefon Diggs’ arraignment is set to have major repercussions on the New England Patriots’ playoff hopes.

Diggs, 32, the partner of rapper Cardi B, is accused of felony strangulation or suffocation and misdemeanor assault and battery after an alleged incident involving his personal chef last month.

Through the Patriots, it was revealed Diggs ‘categorically denies’ the allegations against him and as per Mark Daniels of MassLive.com, he added: ‘It’s been an emotional time. It’s definitely an open case so I can’t even say anything about it.’

Despite the ongoing situation, Diggs played in the Patriots’ season finale on January 4th and, as per the fresh update, will now be available for their postseason games after being granted a postponement of his arraignment.

According to The Boston Globe, Diggs made the request due to a ‘previously scheduled professional commitment’ that day.

His new arraignment is set for five days after the Super Bowl LX, which takes place on February 8th. It had previously been set for January 23rd.

New England Patriots receiver Stefon Diggs is facing charges of felony strangulation or suffocation and misdemeanor assault and battery after an alleged incident on December 2

Despite the ongoing situation, Diggs will be available for the Patriots’ postseason run after discovering that his arraignment has been postponed until February 13th

The postponement means that Diggs will be available to the Patriots throughout the entirety of the postseason. It also means he will likely avoid the NFL Commissioner’s Exempt List, which is a paid leave status for players in unique circumstances.

Diggs is accused of slapping and choking his personal chef during a financial argument at his residence in the Boston suburb of Dedham on December 2.

According to the incident report provided to the Daily Mail, the woman said Diggs entered her unlocked bedroom, grabbed her from behind and ‘tried to choke her using the crook of his elbow around her neck.’

She told police on December 16 she feared she ‘could have blacked out,’ before being thrown down onto the bed by Diggs. The accuser initially hesitated to identify Diggs to police ‘due to his fame,’ according to the incident report.

Diggs’ accuser initially began working for him before training camp opened in late July. Her employment was supposed to last through the end of the ongoing NFL season.

Initially, she explained, she was supposed to be paid weekly via wire transfer, but those payments soon became monthly, leading to some friction between herself and Diggs. She also claimed she’s still owed a month’s pay from the former All-Pro receiver.

In early November, she was told by Diggs to leave the residence and ‘go home’ for a week so he could entertain guests. However, she claimed, he did not provide any financial assistance for her to find a flight. And since she did not ask for the time off, the accuser explained to police that she still hoped to be paid for that week.

‘She said that is standard in this type of work arrangement, unless the employee asks for the time off,’ read the police report.

The dispute over her pay escalated over purported text messages, which she shared with Dedham police.

‘You will be paying me out for the season & the money you said you would give me,’ the alleged victim wrote to Diggs.

Diggs responded: ‘I don’t gotta do a mf thing…You can get whoever you want. You got my address, tell them come take the money.’

Following the alleged assault, the accuser said she left her position and stayed with a friend until December 9, when she returned to Dedham to get her property. At the time, she claimed to police, Diggs told her to take up their financial dispute with his assistant, who asked her to sign a non-disclosure agreement.

She told police on December 16 that she refused that request.

‘She spoke to [name removed] from Finance who explained that DIGGS had requested a signed non-disclosure agreement from [victim] before she could be paid. [Victim] did not sign any such document,’ read the incident report.

Diggs allegedly contacted his former chef at one point, telling her via text message ‘you don’t need to do all this,’ but the accuser asked police to tell him to cease communication.

She also believes she was contacted by his girlfriend in text and voice messages, although the police report does not name the person or include any mention of Cardi B.

Although she did not file charges on December 16, the accuser did change her mind and opted to proceed a week later.

The father of Cardi B’s fourth child, Diggs has denied the allegations to the team, as Patriots spokespeople revealed in a statement provided to the Daily Mail.

‘The New England Patriots are aware of the accusations that have been made regarding Stefon Diggs,’ the statement began. ‘Stefon has informed the organization that he categorically denies the allegations.

‘We support Stefon. We will continue to gather information and will cooperate fully with the appropriate authorities and the NFL as necessary. Out of respect for all parties involved, and given that this is an ongoing legal matter, we will have no further comment at this time.’

The four-time Pro Bowl selection has made a number of headlines in 2025.

One bombshell allegation was made by social media influencer and clothing designer Chris Blake Griffith, who claimed Diggs tried to drug him, made unwanted sexual advances and later conspired to kill him.

In response, Diggs accused Griffith of concocting a lurid taleand sued him for defamation. Griffith has since filed a counterclaim, standing by his accusations against the former All-Pro.

In May, Diggs was seen partying aboard a boat in a viral clipthat showed him handling a pink substance believed to be drugs. He would ultimately discuss the incident with Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel, who has agreed to keep the conversation private, but was never punished by the team or league.
