You can’t blame Ewen Murray for considering future after witnessing such vile abuse at the Ryder Cup. If that’s a taste of things to come, who would even want to play in it?!

How did you fare against our expert in Daily Mail Sport’s unrivalled Predictor challenge in gameweek 16 of the Premier League?

The weekend got going with Newcastle and Chelsea’s game of two halves, with that one ending 2-2 after the away side’s comeback – and a slate of missed chances for Nick Woltemade to bag his first hat-trick.

After that, we wanted you to predict a couple of Saturday’s 3pm games. The afternoon ended with Brentford winning 2-0 at Wolves, while Brighton and Sunderland played out a 0-0 draw which sent half of the south coast to sleep.

EXPERT PREDICTIONS

Tom Collomosse scored a solid four points

Newcastle v Chelsea – DRAW – 1 pt

Wolves vs Brentford – HOME – 0 pts

Brighton v Sunderland – HOME – 0 pts

Man City v West Ham – HOME – 1 pt

Tottenham v Liverpool – AWAY – 1 pts

Everton v Arsenal – DRAW – 0 pts

Aston Villa v Man United – HOME – 1pt

There was also Manchester City vs West Ham at the same time. Pep Guardiola’s men briefly went top of the table thanks to a 3-0 win and another Erling Haaland masterclass.

Then, it was off to Tottenham, where Liverpool scored a 2-1 win against nine-man opponents… and lost Alexander Isak to a nasty leg injury moments after he scored.

Arsenal reclaimed top spot going into Christmas in one of the Saturday 8pm kick-offs as they fought for a 1-0 win at Everton.

Aston Villa vs Manchester United was, bizarrely, the only game on Sunday. Morgan Rogers was the star there, scoring twice to help Villa to a 2-1 win and their 10th straight victory in all competitions.

How many of those did you get? Our nominated expert for the week, Tom Collomosse, landed a respectable four points.

But chief out of all our experts for the gameweek was Craig Hope, who scored a massive five points on his return to action.

Nathan Salt, Lewis Steele, Kieran Gill, and Jack Gaughan all also managed four, while James Sharpe was the basement boy for the weekend on three points – still not bad.

And that was enough to keep Sharpe on top of the overall table with 54 points, though Gaughan and Salt are only a point behind.

Across the country, a remarkable 117 players scored seven points.

Think that could be you? Come along and test your football brains. Predictor returns this coming weekend.
