Shropshire Council has welcomed the submission of the Listed Building Consent application for 4–5 King Street, Ludlow and the engagement of the owners in bringing forward proposals for this vacant listed building. The application seeks consent for the replacement of a number of windows on the King Street elevation, and we note that the proposals have been informed by a detailed assessment.
While this application represents an initial phase of works, it is encouraging to see early steps being taken to address the condition of the building. We understand that further proposals for the comprehensive conversion and renovation of the building are in preparation, and we look forward to reviewing these in due course.
We welcome the opportunity to continue constructive engagement with the applicants to ensure that both the current proposals and forthcoming schemes are carefully considered in the context of the building’s significance and its contribution to the wider Conservation Area, as part of a co-ordinated approach to securing its viable and sustainable future use.
This statement is made without prejudice to the formal determination of the application, which will be assessed in accordance with the statutory duties, the development plan, and all other material considerations.
