The family of Toronto Blue Jays slugger Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was harassed at Yankee Stadium on Wednesday night as New York was eliminated from the American League Divisional Series with a 5-2 Game 4 loss.
Footage from the incident surfaced online, showing a can being thrown at Guerrero’s family. It’s unclear when the incident took place and if his Hall-of-Fame father was on hand for the confrontation.
The clip shows debris flying towards a group of Blue Jays supporters, who turn away from the field to respond to their antagonists standing off screen. The clip was first posted by JJNews on Instagram. Security is seen preventing the Blue Jays supporters from walking up the stairs towards their antagonists.
Of course, nothing – not even fan abuse – was stopping Guerrero this series. The Montreal native hit .529 with three home runs, including a grand slam. He also teased Yankees radio announcer John Sterling’s catch phrase after defeating New York, telling FS1: ‘Daaaaa Yankees lose!’
The Jays now await the winner of the ongoing Seattle Mariners-Detroit Tigers series, which has its fifth and deciding game on Friday from T-Mobile Park.
‘This is a really special group and we’ve had the confidence to be here since day one. I like our chances and I like the fact that these guys will be recognized for it,’ Jays manager John Schneider told reporters.

‘I think we more than showed what we can do in this series between all that pitching, defense, everything. The guys in here know what we’re capable of and we don’t really care what anyone else thinks.’
Guerrero, who was raised in his father’s native Dominican Republic, said all of Canada is backing the Blue Jays this postseason.
‘Maybe some people don’t believe in the team through the year, but I always remind everyone that we have an entire country behind us that believe in us, and hopefully we can get the World Series back to Canada,’ Guerrero said through a translator.
Toronto had winning records against both the Tigers (4-3) and Mariners (4-2) this season.
